Blackberry Tea
Blackberries have a delightful flavor and are rich in
antioxidants and vitamins A and C, giving blackberry tea its
medicinal properties. Whether mixed with Camellia sinensus (the
tree from which all tea originates) leaves, herbs or brewed
alone... the tea presents a sweet, fruity taste that can be
enjoyed either hot or over ice.
The deep-purple berries are picked from thick bramble
bushes that are grown in many parts of the world.
There are many ways to prepare and enjoy this
refreshing, delicious tea.
- The most traditional way is to pick blackberry
leaves and dry them in the sun. Then, use a mortar and
pestle to crumble 2 teaspoons of leaves per cup of boiling
water. Steep for 5-10 minutes, and serve.
- Mash fresh blackberries and put them through a
sieve. Warm the liquefied blackberries and let them sit for
a few hours. Then, pour the mixture into boiling water to
make a fresh cup of tea. The amount of mixture you use
depends on your taste preference.
- Brew your favorite black, green, oolong, white or
herbal tea and add store-bought blackberry syrup to make a
sweet flavorful brew.
- This fruit tea also can be found in loose or
bagged form with flavor enhancements including vanilla,
cinnamon, ginger, currants, mint and jasmine.
As an added treat, complement your tea with some sweetened
fresh berries, blackberry fruit pies, tarts or scones.
