Jasmine Tea

Jasmine tea is tea with added Jasmine flowers. It originates from the time of the Song Dynasty (960–1279). Normally Jasmine tea is based on green tea. This is a great tea for those who prefer scented tea. In fact, jasmine tea is known to be one of the oldest scented tea around. Jasmine Tea is a famous tea made from Green or Pouchong (Chinese Green) tea leaves that are scented with jasmine flowers. The flowers are layered over the tea leaves during the scenting process. The quality of Jasmine tea is determined by the quality of green tea used as its base and the effectiveness of the scenting.

Drinking Jasmine Tea is known to prevent some forms of cancer, as well addressing the problem of aging. Recipes

Sparkling Jasmine Ice Tea

A sparkling iced tea, flavoured with jasmine and brown sugar syrup. A change from the ordinary, with a sweet and floral flavour.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups water, boiling
  • 3 tbs loose jasmine tea
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups sparkling water

Preparation:

Dissolve sugar in 3/4 cup of water, and boil gently until a syrup has formed. Set aside and let cool. Steep the jasmine tea in the remaining 3 cups of hot water for around 6 minutes. Strain out tea, and let cool slightly. In a pitcher, combine syrup and tea. Stir or whisk until fully blended. Add sparkling water and cool thoroughly. Serve over ice. Can be served with cinnamon sticks, lemon slices or mint sprigs.

Ingredients:

  • 1/8 ounce(s) of Jasmine Tea
  • 1/8 ounce(s) of sugar

Preparation:

1. boil a pot of hot water,
2. take some Jasmine Tea,
3. pour the hot water into the cup with Jasmine Tea
4. filter and enjoy it.
